MELBOURNE, Australia – New Zealand’s government has passed the Crown Minerals (Decommissioning and Other Matters) Amendment Bill.
According to Cue Energy, a partner in the producing Maari and Manaia producing fields in the PMP 38160 permit in the offshore Taranaki basin, the legislation – still to be finalized – will change the decommissioning obligations of permit holders.
As for recent activities on the permit, the MR8 production well underwent a workover to replace a failed electric submersible pump, which restored production.
MR6a remained shut in with operator OMV advancing plans for the installation of temporary desanding equipment to allow the well to flow and to determine the cause of the detected sand.
Jadestone Energy is still waiting for regulatory approval to complete its acquisition of a 69% operated interest in Maari from OMV.
